Miss Marshall (Y3)

We hope you have had a fantastic Easter break and are looking forward to the new term!

Our class book this half-term is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter thinks he is an ordinary boy – until he is rescued by an owl, taken to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, learns to play Quidditch and does battle in a deadly duel. The Reason: Harry Potter is a wizard!

We will join Harry on his journey to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and explore the wonderous world of wizards and witches! In English lessons, we will use our knowledge of the story to write our own captivating narratives and a special edition of the Daily Prophet newspaper.

In maths, we will be focussing on applying our knowledge of fractions before diving into measurement. We will learn how to measure mass and capacity before exploring time and money.

Our science topic will see us investigating plant reproduction. We will construct our own investigations on what plants need to grow and look at how plants disperse their seeds.

Our geography topic is Marvellous Mountains and Raging Rivers. We will begin by looking at the features of mountains and how they are formed before venturing into the features of rivers, how they change and how we use them.

In PE, we will be starting with tennis before moving on to cricket. Hopefully we will start to see some sunshine and will be able to head outside for our PE lessons! Our PE day has changed to a Wednesday, so please make sure you come to school in correct kit on this day.
