Miss Clark (F2/Y1)

We cannot believe we are already in the summer term! We are so proud of the progress you have all made so far this year, and we are excited to watch you continue to blossom during our final term.

Our class book this half-term is called One Day in Wonderland by Kathleen Krull.

A joyful, playful celebration of Lewis Carroll's love of language combined with an introduction to his life and the origin of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, exquisitely illustrated by Júlia Sardà.

We will be going on a beautiful adventure down the rabbit hole as we explore the classic novel ‘Alice in Wonderland’ by Lewis Carroll. During our writing lessons, we will be writing a newspaper article to report Alice as missing and a narrative to tell our very own version of the story.

In maths, we will be getting stuck in to multiplication and division, which will include an introduction to arrays and counting in 2s, 5s and 10s, as well as sharing and grouping different sets. We will also look at fractions and time, so we will have lots of new knowledge to share with you all!

Our science topic will see us exploring plants and how they grow. We will be conducting an experiment to see the effect the lack of water will have on a seed, as well as attempting to grow our own plants to take home.

In PE, we will be perfecting our strike, field and catching skills. Our P.E. will be on a Monday, so make sure to wear the correct P.E. kit!

Our geography topic is all about ‘Super South Africa’, where we will look at the continents and oceans of the world, and learn all about South Africa and how life there compares to our life in the U.K.

We will be completing the phonics screening check this term, and we are doing lots of work on this in school. We are sending lots of resources home for additional support, however if you would like anything extra then please just ask!

How can I help my child at home?

Make sure you read with your child at least 5 times per week.

Please make sure you complete your homework weekly, five reads every week, arrive in the correct PE kit and have an attendance of 96% or above to be ‘In It To Win It’!

'Be the Best we can Be'.
